Is Paris the city of happily ever afters?

Workaholic art historian Aurora Black doesn’t have time for fairy tales or Prince Charmings, even in the most romantic city in the world. She has recently been hired by a Parisian auction house for a job that could make or break her career. Unfortunately, daredevil journalist Cédric Castel seems intent on disrupting Aurora’s routine.

As Aurora and Cédric embark on a journey across France, they get more than they bargained for as they find themselves battling rogue antiques dealers and personal demons, not to mention a growing attraction to each other.

But with the help of a fairy godmother or two, could they both find their happily ever afters?

My Review

This is a modern day fairy tale with added mystery.  The main character Aurora, who works with ancient manuscripts and documents, is asked to go to Paris to look over a document that has been found there.  Aurora has no time or interest in a relationship, but once in Paris she meets Cedric who may change all that.  With a journey across France, with bad guys on their tale, will Cedric be Aurora’s Prince Charming?

I have only read one other book by this author, Little Pink Taxi, but I loved it!  So I was very pleased to read another by her.  The story is a little different to other romantic stories I’ve read, but that’s what makes this books by this author so much fun to read!  Aurora is a great character, a definite workaholic who carries many physical and emotional scars from her past.  I love that she is a Palaeographer, and found the whole story of old manuscripts and documents completely original!!   Cedric is a journalist who initially thinks that Aurora is in on some dastardly criminal plan involving the ancient manuscript in Paris.  He also carries a lot of emotional baggage, but I do love his character in every way!!  He’s obviously one of the good guys in life and who could blame Aurora if she fell for his charms!!

The story is full of charm, romance and intrigue!  Completely different to other books of this genre, this book had me hooked from the beginning.  It has a little bit of everything in it, so is perfect for covering lovers of all different genres!!  I loved the mystery and intrigue in it and of course the romance goes without saying!  The chemistry between Aurora and Cedric was smokin’ hot, but even with everything being so apparently obvious, the story twists and turns so you can’t guess how it’s going to end up until it’s revealed.

Like the other book that I read by this author, this one is delightful, fun, romantic and suspenseful!!  The location is wonderful with the Paris scenes making you feel like you’re actually there!  It keeps you hooked with the action and mystery and it makes your heart fill with warmth with the love and friendship.  Would definitely recommend!
