Richard’s world is aglow with wealth, love and unswerving family loyalty but then his perfect life crosses Billy’s. He could save Billy, her beloved dairy cows and Fox Halt Farm but this young woman isn’t in the mood to be rescued.
Nothing will stay the same. Should they trust each other? Will their secrets tear their lives apart?
Fox Halt Farm is hard to put down. The story cracks along and you are caught up in Celia Moore’s vivid storytelling from the start. If you love novels by Jill Mansell, Fiona Valpy, Lucinda Riley, Maeve Binchy and Danielle Steel you will love this novel too!

My Review
This is a new author for me, and the debut novel for this author also. Being brought up on a small farm in Devon herself, the author has taken her experiences and turned them into a love story based on the majestic Devonshire heathlands of Dartmoor. The backdrop of Dartmoor is wonderful and brings together the tension and suspense of this love story with the wild ruggedness and financially hardships of running a dairy farm out on the moors.
Billy is a difficult character to read. I felt sorry for her in so many ways, struggling to help keep the family farm afloat, the place where she feels most at home and the happiest. The book also begins with Billy at her lowest point emotionally, alone and standing on a cliff edge in Greece. The relationship between her and Richard, the man who rescued her when she fell from the cliff edge is intriguing and as the book moves on this relationship begins to get more emotional and complicated.
The storyline is captivating and the writing takes you right into the hearts of the characters. Written almost like a diary, and spanning over a couple of decades, this book takes us through the lives of the different characters, through their happy and heart-breaking times. There are lots of different characters and the chapters are told from the point of view of these characters. There are also ‘sub-chapters’ within the chapters, and whilst this, the amount of characters and the different dates for each chapter was initially confusing, as I settled into the book and got to know the characters, this became easier to understand.
From reading the blurb, the story sounded really interesting and I’m so glad I took the chance on reading a new author. The book was filled to the brim with so many different elements and it was a surprising story of love, family, secrets, betrayal and suspense. Very enjoyable, equally compelling and wonderful storytelling! Would recommend!
The Author
Celia Moore (1967-now) grew up on a small farm near Exeter. She had a successful career as a Chartered Surveyor working in the City of London before working her way back to Devon. In 2000, she left the office to start a new adventure as an outdoor instructor, teaching rock climbing and mountaineering. Today she gardens for a few lovely customers, runs and writes (accompanied at all times by a border terrier x jack russell called Tizzy). She is running the London Marathon in April 2019 for three cancer charities.
