My Review

Shamefully this was my first book by this author despite having two other books of hers which I haven’t read yet!  Rest assured though, after reading this one, the other books will have a definite shove up the “To Be Read” pile!

Lifestyle Journalist, Melissa is pushing 35 and still single.  Her life revolves around her social media accounts and trying to avoid her mother who is desperate to marry her off.  Agreeing to her boss’s challenge of ditching all modern technology for a whole month, Melissa is lost without her mobile, her Facebook account and her dating apps!  But as the days pass, Melissa realises what she would have normally missed if she had her nose stuck in her phone, especially when two gorgeous men appear on the scene!!

I loved this book!!  I have read books before where the character has had a social media or technology ban, but they weren’t anywhere near as delightful as this book!  Straight away I loved Melissa’s character.  We meet her as she’s crawling through a dog flap after a one night stand that she met on E-Harmony!  I’ve no doubt some of us have done the “Walk of Shame” the next morning, but I bet none of us did it as classy as Melissa did with her torn dress held together with a key ring fob as she walked through Manchester City Centre!

Melissa is obviously very dependent on her social media apps and her mobile and it’s been great watching her deal with life without Facebook, Snapchat and Tinder.  It has made me think about how I’d cope without any technology and how much we have come to rely on things such as our mobile phones, text messages and emails!  I’ve also enjoyed Melissa’s romantic capers and have certainly loved reading about the debonair Joseph and the cute Scott!!

This book has been an absolute joy to read and once started, I just couldn’t put it down.  A relatively short book, it only took me just under a day to read, and I enjoyed it that much I would definitely read it all over again!  The characters are all likeable, easy to relate to and the story was easy to follow.  It was also full of friends and family, love and laughter – a sheer delight!!  Highly recommended!!!
